The citizens’ association ‘’The Danube 1245’’ realized the second project activity – ‘’EU Reflect’’ within the European project WISE (While Innovating and Strengthening Europe on 25th November 2018. This project is part of the European programme – Europe for Citizens.
The aims of the WISE project are to inform and educate local citizens about the history of EU, its institutions and values with the focus on the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaty, to contribute to citizens’ understanding of the EU membership benefits and European values in the face of rising Euroscepticism by stimulating debate and reflection, to actively engage citizens in discussions and debates on challenges EU is facing ( unemployment, economic crisis, migrant crisis, Brexit…) as well as engaging citizens in finding solutions to the above mentioned problems and envisioning potential future scenarios for EU.
The leading project partner is the association ‘’ALDA’’ from France and citizens’ associations from sixteen European countries are taking part in this project: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Albania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Romania, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Macedonia and Serbia. The citizens’ association ‘’The Danube 1245’’ represents Serbia in this project.
In the second project activity which focused on the challenges EU is facing, the local citizens had an opportunity to discuss the benefits and challenges of EU membership and share good practices with the guests from Croatia. We express our gratitude to our partners from Croatia for taking part in this project activity.
The second project activity was realized in cooperation with six citizens’ associations from Croatia: KUD ‘’Anka Ošpuh’’, ‘’Narcisa’’, ,,Žene iz centra svijeta’’, ,,Trsek’’, ,,Ludbreška vinska cesta’’and the Council of Serbian National Minority in the Municipality of Ludbreg, Croatia. Two associations from Sremski Karlovci: ‘’Kolo srpskih sestara’’and ‘’Društvo za negovanje tradicija i razvoj Sremskih Karlovaca’’and their members also took part in the project activities.
