The first meeting of the Special Working Group for the Draft Strategy for Creating a Stimulating Environment for the Development of Civil Society in the RS for the period from 2021 to 2030 was held on July 27, 2021 in the Palace of Serbia. The meeting was attended by members, ie deputy members and observers in the Special Working Group, representatives of international organizations and representatives of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue.
The meeting was opened by the Chair of this Special Working Group, Minister Gordana Čomić, who thanked a wide range of people from the state and civil sector who took part in the meeting, emphasizing the great importance of this public policy document, not only for both sectors but also for democratization. society. She emphasized that all obstacles that currently exist in creating a stimulating environment for the development of civil society in the Republic of Serbia must be overcome and that it is necessary to establish a culture of compromise and dialogue.
Françoise Jacob, the permanent coordinator of the United Nations in Serbia, thanked for the invitation and pointed out that the support for the work of the civil sector in the Republic of Serbia has always been goal-oriented to the promotion of democracy. Jacob supported the further process and stated that the organizations themselves should cooperate more with each other, unite, and jointly present views on certain issues, so that their impact on the state sector would be more significant.
Deputy Chair of the Special Working Group, Acting Assistant Minister, Zarko Stepanovic pointed out that the aim of drafting this document is to develop a stimulating environment for civil society organizations with improved legal, institutional and financial framework for building structured and developed cooperation between the public and civil sector and establishing a permanent dialogue with public authorities in all areas.
On this occasion, the participants were introduced to the current process of drafting a public policy document to create a supportive environment for civil society development and a framework calendar for future activities, as well as the starting point for drafting this policy document. presented to the public
