A city walk to the recreational zone Dunavac (Old Danube) was organized for the citizens of Sremski Karlovci within the local activity number 1 in phase 2 of the project “DESIRE” supported by the program “Europe for Citizens” of the European Union.
The DESIRE project is being implemented by a project consortium from 8 countries, the leading partner is the Italian municipality of Lavarone, and the partner for Serbia is the Danube 1245 from Sremski Karlovci. As part of this activity, 20 citizens of Sremski Karlovci took part in a walk to the Danube during which they were introduced to project activities and the topic of the project in the measure “Memory” related to the historical circumstances of the European Union and the Schuman Declaration, as one of the basic documents.
Upon arrival at Dunavac, a poetry recital with the theme “Life and Love” was organized. During the recital, the Karlovac poet Mr. Vladimir Rapchenko read his own poems written over a period of 10 years. Citizens got acquainted with the work of their fellow citizens, some of them heard these songs for the first time and rewarded them with heartfelt applause from their poet.
The participants expressed their satisfaction with the ambience and the way in which this activity was realized.
