On the territory of LAG Prizaga, from November 7-9, the “EU Landscape” project was implemented. The three-day international event was organized in Croatia, the country of the leading partner. 7 partners from 7 countries participated in the project (Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Serbia). The international conference “EU Landscape” was organized in the city of Novi Marof and the municipality of Breznički Hum. The municipality of Breznički Hum celebrates Martinje or the feast of Saint Martin at this time, and many cultural events are traditionally organized for those days. The first activity of the Conference is the presentation of the project partners and their best local initiatives, followed by the formal presentation of the project, introduction to the project’s objectives, work methodology and partnership structure. A documentary film by the host – LAG PRIZAG on the topic: “Landscape features in the area of LAG PRIZAG” was shown. Group work was organized – DEBATE on the topic “Cultural landscape of the EU”. The participants were divided into two groups.
Presentation of group results and positions from debates on the topic “Cultural landscape of the EU”, with the participation of experts and representatives of the public sector — Sanja Kopjar, Master of Agriculture, Director of the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Natural Areas of Varaždin County (Public Institution “Nature of Varaždin County”), Siniša Jenkač, Mayor of Novi Marof and Renata Horvatić, Director of the Tourist Board of Novi Marof.
This was followed by a trip to Breznički Hum to the elementary school hall, where the Brass Band Concert of the Saint Martin Brass Band Association was held, where mutual understanding and tolerance are promoted through music, contributing to a better understanding of the dynamics and multi-layered nature of European identity.
As the project itself is planned to coincide with the organization of the traditional festival “Martinje v Humu”, where special attention was attracted by the traditional event Stari Žmaki and Martinjski fair under the tent in front of the elementary school, as well as the all-day folk entertainment with music and catering on the last day of the three-day celebration.
The host made an effort to provide us event participants with good accommodation, rich and varied food, quality work space, professional staff to work during the conference as well as a tourist tour so that we took away a handful of good impressions from the event.
