The two-day training “Manifestation events as a driving force for the development of rural areas” was organized in Kula, Serbia from October 11 to 13, 2024. The training was attended by twenty-six (26) participants from the province of Vojvodina as representatives of the public and the civil sector, which is responsible for organizing manifestations and events in their communities.
The focus of the training was on the economic benefit and contribution of the event to the development of tourism and community culture, valorization of local communities, volunteerism and activism of the local community, and media promotion (campaigns, target groups, public relations). The participants analyzed where they relate to project planning and management, volunteer mobilization and involvement of the local community, as well as fundraising for their manifestation and evaluation afterwards. All sessions are presented as interactive exercises with different aspects of event organization, as well as evaluation of possible risks and assessment of their impact during the event.
With the great support of a local actor, LAG “Srce Bačka” from Kula, the afternoon session of the workshop was organized at the local event “Pumpkin Days” which was held on Saturday, October 12 in the park, in the center of Kula. It was an excellent opportunity to organize group work so that the participants could analyze and compare specific segments of this manifestation on the spot. Organizers from the Women’s Association “Eko-Kula” presented their views on issues related to organizing, collecting funds, engaging volunteers and the community.
This activity is supported by the project: “Promoting Economic Diversification of Rural Areas in Southeast Europe (SEDRA II) in SEE – Capacity building in the value chain in agriculture and rural tourism to rationalize rural employment opportunities” implemented in partnership by GIZ and SVG.
In front of the organizations Dunav 1245 and the Partnership for Rural Development K-2, the training was attended by Rajko Marinković and Josip Varga.
