In the Portuguese capital Lisbon, from 12th to 14th March 2019, the final conference of the WISE project was held, titled as “European Union: past, present and future – Where do we come from, where are we going?” In three days of dens program with representatives from 16 countries the participants presented their project activities in the current course of the project and were able to receive information about the activities of other partners.
Conference organizers, partner association from Portugal, REDE DLBC Lisbon, took the opportunity to present local situation as well as activities and efforts in the work on raising the quality of life of the poorest parts of society, mostly immigrant families, and activism of the local population. We also attended the presentation of the two organizations involved the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drugs Addiction, Drug Abuse and European Maritime Safety Agency which deal on reduction of pollution of the sea, by the overseas ships.
The last day of the conference was a successful panel discussion with Portuguese representatives in the European Parliament, where the participants could ask questions about the functioning of political structures, the forthcoming elections for the European Parliament, as well as their doubts about the future of the European Union. Participants were also addressed by the authors of the WISE Project Secretary-General ALDA organization Antonella Valmorbida from Italy, Rui Franco from Portugal, President Rede DLBC Lisboa and Toni Venables from the Great Britain, the founder of the ECIT Foundation, with an overview of the problems with which they are facing in the European Union, trying to point out the benefits of membership in The European Union and their contribution to the fight against Euroscepticism.
